This site is a SE-facing ravine slope that supports a rather young forest dominated by Quercus velutina, Liriodendron tulipifera, and Fagus grandifolia that regenerated following selective logging around 1960. Although the overstory will likely undergo significant future successional changes, understory and herb layer composition are fairly typical of older mesophytic oak-hickory forests in the Watery Mountains.
